VHS war. And we've been hearing for years that Beta was a "better" format than VHS. In fact, perhaps the major deciding factor in VHS' victory was that a whole movie could fit on 1 casette. Because VHS (originally) had a 2-hour capacity, instead of Beta's 1-hour (original) capacity, folks using VHS didn't have to get up off the couch and change tapes.
