Sony’s First BD-50 Blu-ray Titles?

Rumours say that Sony’s first BD-50 titles will be unveiled today. Remember that BD-50 is the two-layer version of a Blu-ray disc, and it therefore holds 50GB of information versus the single layer Blu-ray Disc’s 25GB. Which gives more room for extras, soundtracks, and of course a less compressed version of the movie.

We’ve known for some time that Sony was preparing Black Hawk Down as a BD-50 title. But now the scuttlebutt on the street says that Click will be the first BD-50 movie, coming on October 10th. Black Hawn Down is coming November 14th. And then another BD-50 movie, Talladega Nights, is due on December 12th.

Both Talladega Nights and Black Hawk Down will have a lot of extra content, and in HD. Black Hawk Down will also be “the first Sony title to feature the Blu-ray format’s proprietary ‘Blu-Wizard’ authoring environment, which promises to deliver extensive interactive content new to the format.” Sounds cool. But I’d rather see it!
