Mitsubishi’s New 1080p LCD - HC5000BL

Buzz buzz buzz. If you haven’t heard the buzz, it’s about 1080p, and everyone is getting in on the action. This time it’s Mitsubishi’s turn, with their new HC5000BL LCD 1080p projector. I went to their website to find out more, but there’s nothing there yet. So for now we’ll have to make do with this press release from eCoustics.

So what’s the deal with this projector? It uses Silicon Optix’ highly-regarded HQV video processor. It uses new inorganic LCD panels that are supposed to produce better colour. It has a dynamic iris, giving the projector an astounding 10,000:1 contrast ratio. It is 1000 ANSI lumens bright and offers a powered lens shift and powered zoom.

It will have an HDMI input, though no mention is made of 1080p over HDMI support. The projector will retail for $4495 this coming October.
