Interesting HDTV Statistics

Ever wonder what the breakdown was of microdisplay rear-projection HDTV’s sold? This article at DigiTimes has a cool little chart that shows you just that. And it’ll tell you something like this:

2002: LCOS 2% LCD 82% DLP 16%
2003: LCOS 1% LCD 53% DLP 46%
2004: LCOS 3% LCD 53% DLP 44%
2005: LCOS 9% LCD 50% DLP 41%

2Q06: LCOS 17% LCD 39% DLP 45%

Interesting, eh? Yeah, I thought so. I don’t really see any use for these numbers myself, but I always like seeing stats for these kind of these. It’s interesting.

    This is why I love this blog. I’m a stats nut. Now I’m wondering, why those numbers are what they are. DLPs get high numbers because of their price? With that logic, why are LCDs selling so well?
