PS3 Blu-Ray “not reliable”

So Microsoft is trying to muddy the waters by saying that because HD-DVD had two layers of protection and Blu-ray has only one that HD-DVD must be better.

I say the surface that can resist scratches better will win this one. I think the jury is still out, but with the problems we have had with CD’s and DVD’s and scratches, I think both camps would have made this a priority to fix this time around.

I dunno why gamesradar has it out for the ps3 though. amir didn’t say that the protection made the ps3 games less reliable, he said it made blu-ray discs harder to make and lowered yields. They way they wrote it they made it seem like he implied it would be unreliable for consumers.

The Blu-ray camp does have a technology for Blu-ray to combat scratches, and it’s a new coating that makes it much harder to scratch. If this new coating works as advertised, then scratches shouldn’t be a concern.
