Blu-ray Movies Available Today
Today is the official release day for the first batch of BD movies. Have you picked one up? If not, here’s the list you have to choose from:
- The Fifth Element (Sony)
- 50 First Dates (Sony)
- Hitch (Sony)
- House Of Flying Daggers (Sony)
- The Terminator (MGM)
- Underworld: Evolution (Sony)
- xXx (Sony)
Personally, I think I’ll try to pick up The Terminator after work today. I don’t even have a player yet, but it’ll be cool to have a disc!

The same thing happened with HD-DVDs one decent release and several “Blaah..” releases. Doom the movie? Hitched? Please. I pay more for this tech than a decent used car and this is the best line up you can give me? On an average week there is a better line up over the air.
That being said, the fifth element would look good in hd, regardless of how bad of a movie it is.. and the same goes for house of flying daggers.
When will the first movies filmed in HD be out Henning?

Most movies are filmed in HD. They’re just in analog!
You just need to digitize them and POOF! you have a movie ready for BD or HD DVD.
I know that’s not what you mean, but it’s true nonetheless. If you’re asking when the first movies will be shot digitally in HD, there are some already. The Phantom Menace had some pieces shot digitally, and Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith were both shot totally digitally. Lucas is a big pioneer in the field. Director Robert Rodriguez is also a fan, and I know he’s shot at least one or two films digitally, though I don’t know which ones.
