The higher limit of UDI will allow for the transmission of higher resolution video and/or higher refresh rates. Like Kurt said, TVs aren't going past 1080p any time soon but computers are already (such as Apple's 30 inch 2560x1600 resolution display). High end computer displays already push alot more pixels than tv's do and they will only get larger/more pixels (as I don't think tv's will be pushing past 1080p for quite some time).
