Rainbow Effect
You may have heard that DLP projectors with a colour wheel have a problem. And that it’s called “the rainbow effect”. It is called this because people see a rainbow of colours by white objects on dark backgrounds when they move their eyes across the screen. For some people it’s really annoying and others don’t even notice.
HD Beat was wondering if it’s possible to be cured of the rainbow effect, and asked their readers about it. Some said that they did get used to it over time and hardly ever notice it anymore. But others said that they never got used to it or that it got worse.
Conclusion?
Be careful when buying a DLP projector, and make sure that the store you buy it from has a generous return policy.
Note that the rainbow effect is not a problem with DLP projectors containing 3 DLP chips, which are usually $15k or so and up.

I can see them if I try, but don’t notice otherwise.
It can take time to see them. If you get a single chip DLP, be sure you can exchange it before buying.
