Review: Sanyo PLV-Z4 Projector
ProjectorReviews.com has a lengthy review of the Sanyo PLV Z4 projector. This projector is Sanyo’s attempt at giving Panasonic a run for it’s money. Panasonic has it’s latest generation LCD projector, the PT-AE900U, and it’s a killer. Sanyo wants a piece of the action, and this battle has been raging for several model generations now.
The Sanyo PLV Z4 is a good contender. It has great colour accuracy, lockable lens shift, a 2:1 zoom lens, and an HDMI input. Though it doesn’t do so well with crappy SD signals, its image quality is otherwise very good. It even has a motorized door that moves away from the lens when you turn it on!
Summary:
Since very, very few people will ever get a chance to view the Sanyo side by side with the competition, there’s one thing almost certain. If you purchase the Z4, and bring it home, it will exceed your expectations. That a relatively low cost projector can produce an image in your home that is this close to what you see in a theater, will truly surprise all but the most optimistic buyers.
And in case you’re wondering how the Z4 stacks up to the AE900U, they also have a comparative review. In general, they found the Panasonic an all-round excellent choice, but if you’re a tweaker with a need for ultimate sharpness on DVDs, then go for the Sanyo.
