Mr. Swanni seems to be on a roll with lists of ten things. Ten best-looking celebrities in HDTV. Ten worst-looking ones. Now he’s making ten predictions about the HDTV market in 2006.

Some of them are no-brainers, like #3: New HDTV DVD players will be the buzz of the industry. No guff.

#6 is interesting: HDTVs in hotel rooms will encourage more people to buy sets for their homes. I’m not so sure about that. How many hotels install HDTVs? In all their rooms, or just their premium ones? I just don’t buy this one.

I like #4: HDTV sales will jump in the first two months of 2006. Hopefully all those sets will have HDMI! Swanni says that the perfect storm of a Digital TV deadline, the Superbowl, and the Olympics, will all come together to get people out to buy HDTVs. But what about the Xbox 360 and PS3? The Xbox 360 comes out late fall, and the PS3 will come out next spring (probably), so those are two more reasons to buy an HDTV. And then there’s HD-DVD and Blu-ray. Gosh, it might just be time to dump your old TV and get an HDTV!
