3-Chip DLP for less than $15,000

I’m saying that an HDTV projector that costs less than fifteen thousand dollars is a good thing? Yup, when we’re talking about a three-chip DLP projector, it certainly is. InFocus is making their 3-chip ScreenPlay 777 projector available for $14,999. If you suffer at all from rainbows, or are afraid that your friends will, you need a 3-chip DLP design if you have to have DLP. Previously, such projectors (there are only a few) cost more than $20k, and now InFocus is hopefully starting a price war with their $15k offering.

With award-winning InFocus ScreenPlay innovation, new high contrast .8″ 720p DarkChip(TM)3 by Texas Instruments(R) and Faroudja DCDi video processing, the InFocus ScreenPlay 777 projects 2000 video-optimized lumens of stunning brightness. Combined with a jaw-dropping 5000:1 contrast ratio and colors calibrated to D65 color standards, the InFocus ScreenPlay 777 delivers flawless home cinema performance. It is also the only projector in its class to support 1080p and InFocus’ unique 48 Hz film mode conversion.

I don’t know what it means by 1080p support. This thing uses 720p chips. And while it does have a DVI/HDCP input, it does not have an HDMI one.
