Blu-ray People & HD-DVD People Disagree (Duh!)

In discussing the Blu-ray / HD-DVD talks for unification, there doesn’t seem to be much common ground between the two groups. Frank Simonis, a Blu-ray spokesman, said “If we want a unified standard, it has to be better than the sum of the parts. We would like to find something that’s better in the other standard than ours, but we haven’t found it.” Some pretty strong language there, Frank.

And speaking about HD-DVD’s potentially delayed launch, Simonis says that Blu-ray is “no longer lagging behind”. To me this means that Blu-ray will launch in the spring of 2006, because HD-DVD’s delay probably won’t be longer than that if it occurs.
