TDK Making 20,000 Blu-ray Discs per Month

According to the Japanese Nihon Keizai Shimbun Saturday paper, TDK is already producing 20,000 Blu-ray discs (BDs) a month.

Sure, Sony and others are already selling Blu-ray disc recorders in Japan, but could maintaing those consumers really mean producing 20K BDs a month? I don’t think so.

I4U asks: “Is TDK just producing Blu-ray discs for the Sony PS3?” Does that question make sense? PS3 BD games will be read-only. Aren’t read-only optical discs stamped? Why would they be producing those discs now?

Weird stuff.
