[Update: there’s a small anaylsis of this move over at MacCentral.]
Reuters mentions in this article that Apple has put its support behind the Blu-ray standard. This is quite some news. Apple, always the forward thinkining chic computer maker, has been focusing on using industry standards for some years now. They used to be known for how proprietary they are. Now they’re becoming known for how standard they are. While being chic at the same time!
Now that Apple, Dell, and HP are all supporting the Blu-ray standard, I’m going out on a limb to say that Blu-ray will definitely dominate on the desktop. (Pretty thick limb, huh?) All in all, though, I think this is good news. Blu-ray is the technically superior format, so I hope it trounces HD-DVD.
Deep and wide. I hope that this weblog can have deep and wide coverage of HD hardware for television, movies, and games. That’s what I’m interested in, and I assume that because you’re here reading this, you’re interested too.
Because I’m starting this blog today, on March 16th, 2005, there’s a backlog of interesting HD news that I’ll be posting. So if you see some news that’s a little outdated, please bear with me. I want to make sure that these resources are on this website. Once I’m all caught up on the significant stuff, I’ll only be posting new news!
